Product Description
Facebook Me! Group on Facebookound the water cooler—but you’re not sure what it’s all about. Relax and join in. There are more than 110 million members of Facebook these days, and adults are the fastest-growing segment of users. And it’s about more than just kid stuff; Facebook can actually be a good business tool as well as a great way to promote creative projects. In Facebook Me! Dave Awl shows you around the newly redesigned Facebook and helps you take full advantage of all it has to offer, while helping you avoid some of its pitfalls.
• Find out what you can do on Facebook, and what it can do for you. Reconnect with old friends and make new ones, let your friends know what you’re up to, send greetings, share photos or video, or just goof around with applications like SuperPoke.
• Learn Facebook etiquette: how and why to friend someone, how to socialize politely, and whether to friend your boss.
• Publicize your projects, business, or causes: Post to your Wall, set up a Page, put up a Marketplace listing, or invite friends to Events.

I haven’t decided whether it’s Facebook’s limitations, or this books limited scope, but after reading it, I know little more than I did before. One of FB’s most egregious omissions is a useful help function (you have to depend on the largesse of the FB public). The book shares this defect – few answers for practical problems.

Facebook me! is witty and easy to read even for this non-technical gramps of 64. One basic problem is that today is Feb 6, 2010 and just yesterday Facebook changed it’s front page look. When I bought the book in December of 2009 some features had changed from the time the book was printed, thus even more has changed. So, the illustrations of the actual web pages shown in Facebook me! will not match the actual pages in Facebook, 2010. Facebook is a fast moving entity, but Facebook me! can still teach you the core ideas needed to wrap your head around this “human bee-hive” concept of Facebook. Strongly recommend. Bill in Colorado.

This is a great resource — lots of research, plenty of tips, loaded with detailed instructions, with leads into distant parts of the Facebook universe.
If you are new to Facebook, this book will help you figure out how to get up and going; if you are a casual user, this book will give you ideas on what else you can do; and if you are an expert user, this book will surprise you with how much you can still do on facebook.
Very readable, with plenty of examples and screenshots . . . . this is a great tool. Thanks, Dave Awl, you have given us a treasure.

I learned a few new tricks in this book, and found myself stopping several times to check out the item on Facebook that was mentioned on a particular page in the book. There are good examples (including screenshots) of the things mentioned in the book. I think it would be an even more interesting read for people who are newer to Facebook.
